LASH FAQ

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are the application of individual faux mink lashes to your natural lash. Eyelash extensions add length, curl, and volume to your natural lashes and can be customized to enhance and draw attention to your eyes. Extensions come in a variety of thicknesses, lengths, and colors (although black is most common to give the mascara look).

Do They Damage Your Natural Lashes?

Being a properly trained and certified lash artist, I know how to select and apply the appropriate extensions based on your natural lash length and strength. I will never apply lash extensions that I feel are too long or heavy for your natural lashes. My first priority as a professional lash artist is to preserve your natural lash and eye health. Lash extensions should never hurt or cause your natural lash to break off. I recommend you never pull or tug at your lash extensions so as to not damage the natural lash. Your extensions will shed with your natural lash cycle.

How Long Do They Last?

Lash Extensions are placed 1 to 1 on a natural lash. They are meant to enhance your natural lashes but also grow out with your natural lashes. You lose 3-5 natural lashes every day with or without extensions, the extensions do not speed up your natural lash loss. Lash extensions last between 2-4 weeks before needing a lash fill. I recommend an average of 3 weeks for fills to keep your lashes looking their best and fullest. Things that can affect your lash retention are improper home care such as not cleaning your lashes properly or at all, not rinsing your lashes with water after swimming, crying or dealing with watery eyes, using oil-based products on or near the eyelid, medication, allergies, thyroid or hormonal issues, lifestyle, or seasonal changes to name a few. If ever you run into a retention issue, please let me know as soon as possible so we can assess and correct the issue.

Can I Wear Makeup/Mascara

Eyelash extensions and the adhesive are both deep black to give the appearance of mascara and even eyeliner so mascara or makeup, in general, isn't needed but you can wear makeup if you would like. If you decide to wear makeup I recommend washing your face and cleaning your lashes daily after makeup wear. Also, make sure you're using oil-free products and water-resistant mascara. NEVER use waterproof mascara on your lashes as it will tear up your lashes both natural and extensions and break down the adhesive faster. Most people with only wear mascara closer to time for a fill so when wearing mascara make sure you are only applying it mid to tip of the lashes so you're not getting close to the base of your lashes.

How Do I Clean My Extensions?

It is necessary to clean and brush your lashes/lash line daily to prevent eye irritation, infection, blepharitis, and other eye health issues. Use an oil-free makeup remover on your lash extensions to fully remove any makeup and debris in the lashes and then cleanse them with a foam cleanser to fully remove makeup and debris and keep both your extensions and your natural lashes clean and healthy.
